Rosselkhoznadzor began testing the Multican-8 vaccine after the death of dogs
Rosselkhoznadzor has recorded mass complaints about the Multican-8 dog vaccine, which resulted in the death of animals. The agency suspended the turnover of the dangerous series and initiated an unscheduled inspection of the manufacturer together with the prosecutor's office. This was announced on September 1 by the press service of the Rosselkhoznadzor.
The ministry clarified that alarm signals were received from ten regions of the country, including Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Yaroslavl region, which accounted for the majority of incidents.
"The Rosselkhoznadzor receives complaints containing information about serious adverse reactions when using the Multican‑8 vaccine series No. 20. They indicate the death of dogs," the service said in an official statement.
The Rosselkhoznadzor has taken harsh measures in connection with the threat to animal life. The turnover of the problematic batch was immediately suspended, and the manufacturer, Vetbiochim LLC, was notified of the need for a product recall. The company has already announced the beginning of the procedure for withdrawing the series from all points of sale in the Russian Federation. In addition, the information was transferred to the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT) to block labeling codes in the Honest Sign system, which eliminates the possibility of illegal sale of the vaccine.
An unscheduled on-site inspection has now begun at the enterprise. Rosselkhoznadzor inspectors, together with the Lublin Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office and specialists from the subordinate FSBI VGNKI, are investigating the causes of the tragedy.
"Control and supervisory measures are being carried out jointly with the Lublin Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office to verify Vetbiochim LLC. The unscheduled inspection started on 08/31/2026. Based on the results of the inspection, measures will be taken in accordance with current legislation," the Rosselkhoznadzor noted.
Currently, cases of complications after vaccination have been recorded in Yaroslavl (the majority of complaints), Leningrad, Tula, Penza, Saratov, Belgorod, Moscow regions, as well as in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Krasnodar Krai.
