On September 1, Putin addressed Russian schoolchildren, students, their families, as well as teachers and lecturers on the occasion of Knowledge Day. He noted that the beginning of the school year is a special moment filled with attention and hope, joy and communication with friends, bright and kind feelings that unite all generations.
Russian cosmonauts Andrey Fedyaev and Anna Kikina from aboard the International Space Station (ISS) also congratulated Russian schoolchildren on Knowledge Day. As part of the appeal, they remembered the great pioneers of space — Yuri Gagarin, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, Valentina Tereshkova — and wished the children to strive for great achievements.
