Bessent announced US plans to impose new sanctions against Iran every week

Washington intends to impose new secondary sanctions against Tehran every week, hoping to increase economic pressure on it. This was announced on August 30 by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

"You will see a lot more similar sanctions every week," he told Reuters.

The minister noted that, first of all, measures will be directed against banks in order to prevent them from storing Iranian funds and providing their support to Iran.

Bessent plans to bring this position to the finance ministers and central bank governors of the G20 countries, urging them to end economic cooperation with Iran. Otherwise, according to him, these states may face secondary sanctions.
