In the capital of Niger, Niamey, early on Saturday morning, rebel soldiers attacked the airport and the presidential residence, the incident was accompanied by hours of gunfire and explosions. This was reported on August 29 by the Reuters news agency, citing the country's defense ministry.

Rebel soldiers in Niger attacked the airport and the presidential residence in the capital Niamey, triggering an hour-long firefight and explosions, as well as briefly shutting down state television and radio.

After the broadcast resumed, it was reported in a televised address that soldiers from one of the city's military bases had opened fire on important Niamey facilities.

Niger's Ministry of Defense said security forces responded promptly to the attack and contained the unrest. At the same time, Reuters sources in the security services reported that the situation in the city remains unclear. According to them, by the end of the morning there were still groups of rebels on the territory of the capital's airport.

Despite the peace agreement signed in the United States, the republic's authorities cannot protect the locals from the arbitrariness of the militants.

On August 16, a mass shooting took place in the American city of Lexington, Kentucky, as a result of which one person was killed and four others, including two children, were injured. Among the injured were a four-year-old child, a 14-year-old teenager and two adults. Their injuries were not life-threatening.
