Hegseth has denied plans to run for president of the United States in 2028
On August 28, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth denied information from the American NBC News channel about his candidacy for the US presidential election in 2028.
"An absolute lie. We reported this to NBC, but they're just lying, citing anonymous "sources," according to a post on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
According to Hegseth, his main task is to restore the greatness of the United States Department of War.
The Washington Post reported on August 6 that US leader Donald Trump had privately told sponsors that he wanted Vice President Jay Dee Vance to succeed him in the 2028 elections. The authors of the material noted that these words "contrast" with Trump's rhetoric over the past year, in which he publicly incited Vance and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to fight for his favor.
CNN reported on May 20 that Vance and Rubio are preparing for the 2028 presidential election, despite the fact that both deny this. According to the author of the article, neither Vance nor Rubio can control their political future — they promote positions that "increasingly disagree with the opinion of the majority of Americans."
