The scammers began to introduce themselves as employees of the gas services

The scammers began to pose as employees of gas services and management companies, scaring Russians by shutting off gas due to alleged violations. This was announced on August 27 by the press service of the Moshelovka platform of the Popular Front.

"Fraudsters disguised as gas workers or representatives of management companies make rounds of the private sector and apartment buildings or throw "official instructions" into mailboxes, experts told RIA Novosti.

According to the organization, the attackers tell residents about the alleged leaks or malfunctions after checking the networks and offer to urgently replace the equipment. At the same time, the cost of valves, counters or chimneys can be overestimated several times.

Moshelovka called on Russians to check scheduled inspection schedules in advance, not to pay for services by transfer to personal cards, and to require service ids from specialists. Experts also recommend confirming the fact of work through a management company or an emergency dispatch service.

Evgeny Masharov, a member of the commission of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation for public control and handling of citizens' appeals, said on the same day that fraudsters began sending mass messages to Russians on behalf of representatives of the Federal Tax Service with information about alleged debts and the need to provide documents. According to him, such messages contain links to fake pages. After clicking on them, a malicious program can be downloaded to the device, which gets access to the user's personal and bank data.
