The relics of Spyridon of Trimifunt were taken to the Kazan Cathedral of St. Petersburg

The ark with the right hand of St. Spyridon of Trimifunt was welcomed at the Kazan Cathedral of St. Petersburg. The shrine was brought to Russia from the Greek island of Corfu, where it is kept permanently. This was reported by RIA Novosti on August 27.

It is noted that the solemn meeting of the ark took place on the evening of August 17. The event was attended by Bishop Veniamin of Kronstadt, Vicar of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, and the clergy of the St. Petersburg Diocese.

Access to the shrine for believers was open on the day of arrival until 23:00, the agency reports. There was a queue of people who wanted to worship the relics at the cathedral. Parishioners were also given icons depicting St. Spyridon of Trimifunt.

As the Smolny Cathedral's press service noted in its Telegram channel, it will be possible to worship the right hand in the Kazan Cathedral of St. Petersburg from August 28 to August 30 from 06:30 to 23:00, and on August 31 - until 14:00. On this day, after the prayer service, the ark will leave for Pskov. During the shrine's stay in the cathedral, the clergy of the St. Petersburg Metropolitanate will perform divine services with the akathist to St. Spyridon.

Saint Spyridon of Trimifunt was born at the end of the 3rd century on the island of Cyprus. According to church tradition, the saint became famous for helping those in need and for numerous miracles, including healing the sick and helping during droughts.
