According to the newspaper, Berlin is exploring options to support the British nuclear potential and closer integration with the existing deterrence forces of Great Britain and France. At the same time, Germany has no plans to create its own nuclear weapons.

"We are very interested in the existing nuclear powers in Europe expanding their capabilities," said a source familiar with the discussions.

Negotiations between Germany, France and the United Kingdom have intensified amid concerns from European countries about a possible reduction in the American military presence in Europe.

A representative of the security structures said that the issue of what role the existing nuclear forces, including the British Trident system, can play in the defense of Europe is being discussed.
