The footage shows how the protesters took to the streets with posters dedicated to the problems of abnormal heat, drought and the need to protect the population from the effects of climate change.

"I don't see anything good at all in all these years of chancellors' rule, and it's just ridiculous how much taxpayers' money is being wasted here again," said one local resident.

The protests are taking place against the backdrop of a two-day visiting meeting of the German government, which will be held in Brandenburg under the slogan "Put Germany back on course." Merz himself also arrived in the city.

Neither huge contributions to the organization nor a member of the General Assembly helped Berlin win.

The Bild newspaper reported on August 22 that Merz, on his first working day after his vacation, visited the Hurtgenwald community in North Rhine-Westphalia, where a forest fire had previously raged, but the locals greeted him with disapproving shouts and loud whistles. According to the newspaper, about 200 local residents came to the meeting, some holding placards with inscriptions against the chancellor, including "Thank you to the heroes — Cancel the Merc."
