In the future, humanity will be able to establish permanent settlements first on the Moon and then on Mars. This opinion was expressed on August 25 by the head of the Roscosmos state corporation Dmitry Bakanov.

According to him, the development of space technologies is necessary, among other things, as a backup scenario in case of major natural or man-made disasters on Earth. "100% is on the Moon at first, and then on Mars," he said in an interview published on the Telegram channel of journalist Alexander Yunashev.

Bakanov also believes that the current generation may find the beginning of the creation of permanent infrastructure beyond the Earth.

According to him, we are no longer talking about single expeditions, but about missions in which infrastructure elements for a long stay of people will appear on the Moon or other celestial bodies.
