The Ecuadorian police conducted an operation to seize a large shipment of cocaine in the province of Esmeraldas in the north-west of the country, in total, law enforcement officers found about 1.6 tons of the drug, some of the packages of which were marked with the logo of the American television channel CNN. This was reported by the country's police on August 12.

"The police conducted an operation in San Gregorio, Muisne, as a result of which 1,611 packages of cocaine hydrochloride with a total weight of about 1.6 tons were seized," reads a post on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to the police, this area was identified as a possible place of storage and further transportation of prohibited substances.

It is specified that during the operation, law enforcement officers found 40 bags of cocaine hydrochloride, as well as a speedboat, two outboard engines and about 900 liters of fuel, which, presumably, could be used to transport drugs by sea.

The Livingston County Sheriff's Office announced on August 12 that in the US state of Louisiana, sheriff's office officers seized one of the largest shipments of methamphetamine in the history of the region from a Russian citizen. It was noted that during the search of the semi-trailer, drug enforcement department investigators found about 358 kg of methamphetamine, which was hidden inside the trailer.
