The massive work of artillery divisions from one point is becoming a thing of the past due to the high activity of enemy drones. The classic schemes have been replaced by the tactics of the "fire carousel", which is also used by the Grad MLRS calculations. While one car is hitting the enemy, the second is recharging, and the third is changing position. How a continuous "conveyor belt" of rockets helps stormtroopers enter enemy positions — in the Izvestia article.

New tactics for calculating MLRS "Grad"

The tactics of the "fire carousel" were mastered by the calculations of the Grad multiple launch rocket systems. Combat vehicles operate in threes: one hits the enemy, the second goes to recharge, and the third changes position at this time, sources in the Russian Defense Ministry told Izvestia.

Thanks to this "carousel", the calculations manage to strike at areas and precise targets, protecting themselves as much as possible from counter-battery fire or enemy drones.

The new tactics have already been well developed in the units of the jet fighters in the zone of the special military operation, the interlocutors of the publication noted.

Conducting such combat operations requires coherence not only in the calculations of combat vehicles, but also in the units that ensure their operation. They deliver rockets on time and help to recharge the installations.

In addition, mobile firing groups (MOG) are operating in the area of the Grad fire, covering combat and cargo vehicles from UAV strikes from the air, the interlocutors noted.

The Russian army has various tactics for attacking the enemy, in which one combat vehicle replaces another. The most famous of them is the tank carousel. It was actively practiced and used even before the start of its military operation, military expert Yuri Lyamin told Izvestia.

"The essence of this tactic is to keep the enemy's positions under constant fire," he explained. — It allows you to effectively conduct offensive operations.

The enemy tries to keep their heads down at such times, the expert noted. In addition, all antennas for drones and communication systems must be on the ground — their output is inevitable. Rocket fragments destroy them, leaving the position without communication and reconnaissance.

— During this interval, our stormtroopers can pass close to the enemy's positions and deliver an unexpected blow. Groups of defenders trapped in dugouts will be doomed to destruction — they will be quickly bombarded with grenades," Yuri Lyamin specified.

The "fire carousel" is also effective in defense. MLRS vehicles ready to open fire at any moment allow you to quickly respond to changes in the situation on the battlefield — you can immediately open fire on detected equipment or enemy groups that he has pulled up to the front line, disrupting the attack.

"Grad shells are not too powerful to destroy well—made dugouts, but there are still several combat situations where these MLRS will be useful," Yuri Lyamin emphasized.

For example, they can conduct remote mine clearance due to shrapnel — mines will react to nearby explosions by self-detonating.

Another potentially important point: constant work in the area can interrupt the control channels of launched drones on optical fiber — fragments will break the cables that control the drones. This, Yuri Lyamin noted, will make it difficult for the enemy to conduct full-fledged combat work.

The new tactic emerged due to the dominance of tactical drones over the battlefield - the Grad is an important target for them, and at least several drones will be sent to destroy the machine.

The new tactic allows Grad combat vehicles to constantly change their location, striking targets from different positions, which increased the survivability of the equipment and further secured the fighters who serve it, military expert Yuri Knutov told Izvestia.

— If you use such a "carousel" correctly and have well—trained calculations that know how to apply it, the results will be very good, - he believes.

It is now almost impossible to concentrate the fire of a large number of vehicles simultaneously, in batteries or divisions, as previously assumed, due to drone attacks. For this reason, such a scheme of MLRS combat operation was developed, experts summarize.

The tankers are not far behind

The nature of the fighting and its constant change dictate the need to use new techniques. Recently, Izvestia wrote that tankers in the SVO zone have mastered the tactics of "fire attack".

This technique has already proven to be highly effective in solving combat missions to break into the defenses of enemy fortified areas, destroy strongholds, and support their advancing assault units.

While one of the tanks is operating from a closed firing position (ZOP), actually performing field artillery tasks, the second combat vehicle is moving into no man's land. From there, she conducts targeted direct fire at the identified enemy firing points.

Such actions require the highest professionalism and careful training from tankers. Crews need to take into account weather conditions, terrain features and the nature of the ground thoroughly.

Such tactics of constant shifts of positions seriously complicate the enemy's counter-battery warfare, the defeat of Russian armored vehicles by return fire or massive drone attacks.
