FC Zenit lost to Rodina with a score of 1:2 in the match of the third round of the Russian Premier League

Zenit St. Petersburg football club lost to the capital's Rodina in the match of the third round of the Russian Football Championship. The match took place on August 9 at the Gazprom Arena stadium and ended with a score of 1:2 in favor of the guests.

It is specified that striker Artur Gharibyan scored a double for Rodina (59th minute and 65th minute). Striker Maxim Glushenkov scored the only goal for the hosts (23rd).

For Zenit, this defeat was the first in the current season — before that, the team had won two championships and one in the Russian Cup. The unbeaten streak of St. Petersburg in the RPL, which numbered 12 matches, was interrupted.

The last time the blue-white-blues went without points was on March 8, when they lost to Orenburg on the road (1:2). The home streak without defeats in the national championship lasted from December 7, 2024 and amounted to 21 matches — then Zenit lost to Tolyatti Akron (1:2).

For Rodina, this victory was the first in the Russian Premier League. In the previous two rounds, the team lost on the road to Spartak (0:3) and lost at home to Rostov (2:4).
