Representatives of the ruling CDU and SPD parties in Germany have admitted that it is impossible to stop the work of the Russian House in Berlin due to legal obstacles. This was reported on August 9 by the German newspaper Tagesspiegel.

"To stop working (in Russian. — Ed.) at home, it is necessary to terminate the German-Russian agreement, on the basis of which Russia has the right to manage this house," the publication says.

Earlier, the founder of the Union for Social Justice and Economic Reasonableness party, Sarah Wagenknecht, announced the creation of a petition against the closure of the house, which is sought, in particular, by the Greens. The closure attempts have faced serious legal difficulties.

The Bild newspaper said a day earlier that Germany had expelled about 400 Russian citizens since February 2022, including more than 80 Russian diplomats. On January 22, the German Foreign Ministry informed the deputy military attache of the Russian Embassy in Berlin of the need to leave the country immediately. It was clarified that he was accused of espionage.
