Two—time Olympic champion, State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Fetisov called the development of domestic hockey the only way out for the Russian national hockey team after the extension of sanctions. He stated this on August 9 to Sovetsky Sport.

According to Fetisov, it is necessary to raise the level of national competitions, look for promising players and coaches, and pay more attention to the regions.

"There is no time to cry. To develop further is the only correct way out of this situation," said the deputy.

He expressed confidence that after returning to the international arena, Russian teams will be able to compete at a high level again.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the celebration of Hockey Day on December 22. It is noted that this decision was made with the aim of popularizing and developing hockey in Russia.
