The Russian Foreign Ministry warned of attempts to "sow trouble" in Serbia before the elections

Moscow sees forces that seek to destabilize the situation in Serbia on the eve of a new election cycle. This was announced on August 9 by the Director of the Second European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Yuri Pilipson.

According to the Russian diplomat, a new electoral cycle is expected in Serbia, including parliamentary and presidential elections. Belgrade is currently preparing to hold the polls, while the process, as noted by Pilipson, is proceeding calmly and in accordance with democratic procedures.

"It is important that this continues to be the case. We see a lot of those who seek to do a disservice to the Serbs once again, to sow trouble," said a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry in an interview with TASS.

Pilipson stressed that Moscow considers Serbia's internal issues to be a matter for the citizens of the republic themselves. According to him, the Serbs are able to deal with internal problems on their own without outside interference.

As the Newspaper reminds.Ru", Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced plans for early presidential and parliamentary elections. The politician also spoke about his intention to resign from the post of head of state. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated the importance of maintaining a calm situation in Serbia during the preparations for the elections.

Zelensky arrived in Serbia for the first time on an official visit the day before. Former Deputy Prime Minister of the republic and founder of the Movement of Socialists party, Alexander Vulin, in turn, noted that the Ukrainian leader's visit to Serbia did not meet the wishes of the country's citizens, and the opposition parliamentary movement "We are the Power of the People" stressed that Zelensky's arrival in Belgrade would deal a serious blow to Serbian-Russian relations.
