Russians were told about the dangers of a rare bed linen change
Irregular bed linen changes can create favorable conditions for the reproduction of bacteria and dust mites. Experts recommend paying special attention to the pillowcase. Ekaterina Anpilogova, Candidate of Medical Sciences, dermatovenerologist and trichologist at the Medicine Clinic, told about this on August 8 in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
"The gold standard is once every seven days. During this week, a cocktail of sweat, sebum, dead scales of the epidermis, remnants of night serum and dust settles on the tissue," the expert noted.
According to the expert, a person can produce up to 1.5 liters of sweat in one night. With prolonged use of laundry, this creates a suitable environment for bacteria and dust mites. The risk increases if a person sleeps in their pajamas or maintains a high temperature in the bedroom.
The doctor singled out a pillowcase separately. According to her, about 3 million bacteria can be found on a square centimeter of fabric that has not been washed for a week. Among them, Staphylococcus aureus is found, which can cause skin infections and boils.
At the same time, dirty cloth itself is not the direct cause of acne. However, constant contact of the pillowcase with the skin can support inflammation and interfere with skin repair.
For oily skin or acne—prone skin, the specialist recommends changing the pillowcase more often - every two to three days.
Russians were warned on June 20 about the dangers of new clothes without pre-washing. New clothes and bed linen can pose a hidden health threat if used without pre-washing. Chemicals that can cause skin irritation, allergic reactions, and other undesirable effects often remain on the fabric after production. Experts recommend washing new clothes, bed linen and other textiles before first use.
