Turkey has proposed to Russia and Kiev to declare a moratorium on military operations

Turkey has submitted to Russia and Ukraine a proposal for a moratorium on military operations. This was announced on August 8 by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in an interview with Anadolu agency published on the YouTube channel.

"We have called on the parties to create a mechanism for declaring a ceasefire. There have been requests from Ukrainians about this. We have already submitted a proposal for a moratorium to the parties...> and we are waiting for an answer on this issue," Fidan said.

The Minister stressed that the lack of concessions leads to the continuation of the conflict. Commenting on the increased attacks on ships in the Black Sea, Fidan noted that these cases cause great concern to the Turkish authorities.

"This is a dangerous situation. We must at all costs intervene and, as the international community, stop this <conflict>, because everything that was considered impossible is happening here," the diplomat concluded.

Bloomberg reported on the same day that Turkey had restricted the passage of merchant ships through the Dardanelles Strait to the Black Sea due to increased drone attacks. According to the agency, the restrictions also affected some ships that are heading towards Ukraine.

A day earlier, the Haber Denizde portal reported that drones attacked the Turkish-flagged cargo ship MV Gullük near Novorossiysk. The impact hit the living quarters.
