Hockey player Evgeny Kuznetsov signed a contract with Sibir

Stanley Cup winner and two-time world champion Evgeny Kuznetsov became a player of Novosibirsk "Siberia". This was announced on August 8 by the club's press service in the Telegram channel.

The contract with the 34-year-old striker is for one season. Kuznetsov joined the team as a free agent.

"I am very glad to join the team. I'm looking forward to going on the ice in Novosibirsk. Hail, Siberia," said the hockey player.

Last season, Kuznetsov played in the KHL for Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Salavat Yulaev Ufa. In total, he scored 27 points (7 goals and 20 assists) in 34 regular season matches, and scored two points (1+1) in seven playoff games.

Kuznetsov began his career in the KHL with Traktor Chelyabinsk. In 2010, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft as the 26th overall pick by Washington. The Russian striker has been playing for the club from the US capital since 2014 and won the Stanley Cup in 2018.

Kuznetsov also played in the NHL for Carolina, and after leaving the American League, he continued his career with SKA St. Petersburg. As a member of the Russian national team, Kuznetsov became world champion twice, in 2012 and 2014. In addition, he won two bronze medals at the World Championships in 2016 and 2017.
