Khusnullin announced the restoration of traffic on the Novorossiya highway
The situation on the Novorossiya highway has improved significantly, and traffic along the highway has generally been restored. This was announced on August 8 by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
He pointed out that he regularly receives reports on downed Ukrainian drones and cases when UAVs still hit cars.
"We had problems on the Novorossiya highway, but the situation turned around <...> the movement has more or less recovered," Khusnullin said in an interview with TASS.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, about 7,000 cars pass along the highway every day. Almost 3,000 of them are trucks.
The Novorossiya highway runs along an overland route from Rostov-on-Don through Taganrog, Mariupol and Melitopol to Simferopol.
On July 20, the Governor of the Zaporizhia region, Yevgeny Balitsky, reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the R-280 Novorossiya highway, which connects Rostov-on-Don and Simferopol through Mariupol, is under the full control of the Russian military. He also noted that the effectiveness of Ukrainian drones in the Zaporizhia region has significantly decreased.
