US Appeals Court blocks construction of Trump's ballroom
The US Federal Appeals Court has ruled to block the project of American President Donald Trump to build a ballroom worth $ 400 million on the site of the demolished East Wing of the White House. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on August 7.
The court pointed out that the decision on the construction of such an object should be made by the US Congress, and not by the executive branch unilaterally.
"It is up to Congress to decide whether or not to build this huge ballroom, and this should not be a matter of arbitrary executive authority," the court said in a statement.

The Wall Street Journal reported on July 16 that the total cost of building the Trump Ballroom in the East Wing of the White House would be $600 million, with more than half of that amount coming from taxpayers. The publication received six cost estimates for the entire project of the East Wing of the White House, dated from July 2025 to March 2026. Accounting documents show an increase in the cost of construction and materials.
