The Ministry of Justice added the anti-Russian version of Sigma-Boy to the list of extremist materials

The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation has added an anti-Russian version of the song "Sigma-boy" to the list of extremist materials. It follows from the register on the agency's website on August 7.

"Audio recording (song) of the artist "Real Russians" with the title "<... Sigma-fight", lasting about two minutes and 34 seconds," the list says.

The Ministry of Justice cited quotes from the track, which indicate its anti-Russian orientation. The agency referred to the decision of the Moscow City Court of January 22 as the reasons for adding the song to the register.

Sigma-Boy is a song by Russian teenage bloggers Betsy (real name Svetlana Chertischeva) and Maria Yankovskaya, released in October 2024. The lyrics to the track were written by composer and Betsy's father Mikhail Chertischev. The song became widely known all over the world and was actively distributed on social networks.

In January, a Moscow court declared an extremist version of the song "Sigma-boy" with anti-Russian lyrics. According to court documents, the prosecutor discovered a cover version of Sigma Boy, in which the words were completely changed. It follows from the linguistic research that the track, distributed on several websites, contains signs of humiliation of human dignity, as well as incitement of hostility and hatred towards Russian servicemen participating in a special military operation.
