The State Duma spoke about the transition to diplomacy in the conflict with Ukraine

Alexei Chepa, first deputy chairman of the State Duma's International Affairs Committee, said that Ukraine had used all diplomatic initiatives to strengthen its position on the front, so negotiations should be conducted primarily with Western countries.

In conversation with Lenta.Ru On Thursday, August 6, the parliamentarian noted that over the past month Ukraine has intensified terrorist actions, while continuing to declare its readiness for negotiations. He recalled that attempts at a settlement were made in 2014 and 2022, as well as with the participation of the United States, but, according to him, they did not bring results.

The parliamentarian believes that during the negotiations, Kiev used the pause to regroup troops and receive weapons, after which it withdrew from the agreements reached. According to Chepa, this indicates the unreliability of the statements of the Ukrainian side about the desire for peace.

At the same time, the deputy stressed that Russia would continue to adhere to a diplomatic course, however, according to him, the main dialogue should be conducted with Western countries, seeking to abandon the policy of supporting Ukraine.
