Rosstat recorded a weekly decrease in consumer prices
In Russia, from July 28 to August 3, for the first time since May, weekly deflation was recorded — the consumer price index was 99.98%. This is evidenced by the data published on August 5 on the Rosstat website.
Prices have not changed since the beginning of August, and they have increased by 4.84% since the beginning of the year. In August 2025, the index was 99.60%, and from the beginning of last year to August, prices increased by 3.94%.
During the reporting period, fruit and vegetable products fell in price by an average of 0.7%. Prices for cabbage (-3.3%), potatoes (-2.5%), carrots (-2.3%) and tomatoes (-2.2%) decreased. Cucumbers rose in price by 0.8%, apples and bananas — by 0.7%. Among food products, prices for buckwheat (+1.4%), sugar (+1.2%), chicken meat (+0.9%), pork (+0.5%) and millet (+0.6%) increased.
Gasoline and diesel fuel fell by 1.1% and 1.6%, respectively. Gasoline prices decreased in 46 regions.
Ksenia Lychagina, an international marketer, told Izvestia on July 30 that the cost of goods and services is increasingly changing throughout the day due to the introduction of dynamic pricing, in which businesses take into account demand, seasonality, competitors' actions and other market factors. It was clarified that dynamic pricing is a strategy in which the cost of a product is adjusted depending on current market conditions.
