Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee, congratulated the Russian synchronized swimming team on their successful performance at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris. This was announced on August 5 by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Sports.
According to the results of the synchronized swimming competitions, the Russian national team ranks second in the medal standings.
"Congratulations to our synchronized swimming team on their brilliant performance at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris. Our athletes became the best in the technical, free and acrobatic group programs, confirming the high level of the national synchronized swimming school," Degtyarev said.
The Minister also noted that the European Championship continues. According to him, the Russian national team currently has 12 medals — four gold, four silver and four bronze, won in synchronized swimming and diving competitions.
Degtyarev stressed that Russian athletes once again prove that without Russia, world sport would be incomplete.
On August 5, the Russian synchronized swimming team won the acrobatic group program at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris. The team consisted of Maya Doroshko, Ekaterina Kossova, Elizaveta Minaeva, Valeria Plekhanova, Elena Shabanova, Evelina Simonova, Elizaveta Smirnova and Olga Tyutyunik. The second place was taken by the Spanish national team (242.2428 points), the bronze medals were won by the Italian team (219.2545).
