The savings activity of the Russian population decreased slightly in May – June, but remained at a high level. At the same time, Russians began to allocate savings in a different way, increasing investments in real estate, financial instruments and cash. This was announced on August 5 on the website of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

"The savings activity of the population decreased slightly in May –June, but remained high. At the same time, the structure of savings was changing. At the same time, the share of investments in real estate and financial market instruments increased, as well as the demand for cash," the regulator's document says.

The Central Bank's "Summary of the Key Rate Discussion" notes that the structure of savings is gradually changing. The share of funds allocated to bank deposits is decreasing, although the volume of deposits themselves continues to increase.

Following a meeting on July 24, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation lowered the key rate in the country to 14%. The regulator noted the need for a smoother reduction in the key rate than previously expected. In addition, the average key rate was projected at 14.5–14.6% in 2026 and in the range of 10.5–12.5% in 2027.
