The State Duma ruled out iPhone failures due to the FAS case against Apple

The case of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) against the American corporation Apple will not affect the operation of the iPhone and other devices of the company in Russia. This was announced on August 5 by Andrei Svintsov, Deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy.

"This will not affect our citizens who use Apple products in any way. The devices both worked and will continue to work," he told TASS.

The deputy explained that the actions of the FAS, Roskomnadzor and other agencies are related to the recording of violations of Russian legislation and the possible collection of fines. According to him, these measures do not provide for technical restrictions for already used gadgets.

Svintsov added that if Apple returns to the Russian market, the company will first need to repay the fines imposed on it. Only then will she be able to resume legal work in the country.

"Therefore, all these are the right actions, they will replenish the budget of the Russian Federation in the future, when the company returns. All citizens of the Russian Federation will benefit from this," the deputy concluded.

On August 3, the FAS filed a case against Apple for failure to comply with a previously issued warning. The reason was that devices with the iOS operating system (iPhone, iPad) have a foreign browser installed by default.

According to Russian legislation, technically complex goods sold in the country should be able to use a Russian search engine or a service from another member state of the Eurasian Economic Union.
