Jean-Paul Dreo, the author of the lyrics of the famous song Le Coup de soleil, died in France at the age of 74. This was reported by the SUD OUEST newspaper on August 4.
"Poet Jean-Paul Droz, the author of many songs, including the hit "Le coup de soleil" performed by Richard Cocciante, died on Monday at the age of 73, his relatives said," the message says.
Jean-Paul Dreo (Benshetri) was born on June 12, 1953 in Oran in the family of an artist. During his career, he has created a number of successful compositions for artists such as Michel Polnareff, Herve Vilar, Bibi and Shimen Badi. His song J'veux de la tendresse has entered the repertoire of British singer Elton John.
Dreo's greatest recognition came from his work on Richard Cocciante's composition Le Coup de soleil, which was released in 1980. Valery Zeitoun called the late author's work an important part of French chanson.
