Rubio announced US plans to assess the prospects for resuming negotiations on Ukraine

The US administration reiterated its intention to contribute to the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and said that in the coming weeks they plan to take a number of steps to assess the possibility of resuming the negotiation process. This was announced on August 1 by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

"The President [of the United States Donald Trump] has made it absolutely clear that the United States can play a role in ending this conflict. We will continue to explore all possibilities," he said on Fox News.

According to him, Washington understands that the parties to the conflict still have fundamental differences, and it will not be possible to make progress without reducing the distance between their positions. At the same time, he stressed that the United States is ready to contribute to the peace process.
