The World Arm Wrestling Federation has lifted all restrictions on Russians
The World Arm Wrestling Federation (WAF) has reinstated the Russian Arm Wrestling Federation (FAR) and lifted all restrictions on domestic athletes and teams. This was announced on July 31 by the Minister of Sports of Russia, the head of the Olympic Committee of the Russian Federation Mikhail Degtyarev.
"Congratulations to the Russian Arm Wrestling Federation on the full restoration of membership in the World Arm Wrestling Federation (WAF) and the lifting of all restrictions on the participation of our athletes, teams and officials," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
Degtyarev called this news "especially good" and drew attention to the fact that it was received by the Russian side right on the eve of the World Arm Wrestling Championship, which will be held in India this fall. According to the minister, Russians will appear at this sporting event with their own flag and anthem, and they will also be able to see their personal results in the team competition.
The decision of the WAF, according to the head of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, supports the course that the international sports community has decided to take — it is to return athletes from Russia.
The day before, Degtyarev announced that restrictions had been lifted on Russian boxers. By the decision of the World Boxing organization, they were given back the right to perform under national flags and the anthem. On July 31, the head of the International Boxing Association (IBA), Umar Kremlev, was glad that politics had stopped influencing sports. He drew attention to the fact that state paraphernalia is the heart and soul of every athlete.
On July 7, the International Olympic Committee temporarily suspended sanctions against Russian athletes, restoring the status of the Russian Olympic Committee. Back then, the head of the Russian Ministry of Sports announced the acceleration of the process of restoring compatriots in sports events abroad.
