Igor Kozyakov, the founder of the Katyusha children's development center, was charged with fraud in a criminal case initiated at the request of former world boxing champion Konstantin Tszyu. This was announced on July 31 by the businessman's lawyer Olga Karlova.

"My client was officially charged with committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on an especially large scale") <...> My client does not admit his guilt," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to the lawyer, during the confrontation Kozyakov stated that the funds received from Tszyu were used to expand the premises of the children's center and carry out repairs. At the same time, the boxer claims that he has not seen the completed works and denies the fact that they were carried out.

Karlova also said that the testimony was checked at the Katyusha center this week. The investigator and an operational officer inspected the premises and the repairs carried out, carried out a photo recording, and a technical plan with reflected changes and photographs of the center's equipment were attached to the materials of the criminal case.

On July 7, Tszyu accused Kozyakov of embezzling 7 million rubles. The entrepreneur's side does not agree with the charges and insists that the dispute is of a civil nature. According to Karlova, the funds were provided as a loan for business development and the opening of a school at the children's center. After that, Tszyu was called to a confrontation.

Karlova reported on July 14 that the entrepreneur had paid Tszyu part of the debt in the amount of 4.2 million rubles. According to the lawyer, the entrepreneur fulfills all his obligations, and there is no fraud in this matter. Tszyu spent more than eight hours in a confrontation on July 15. During the interrogation, the boxer explained that in 2018-2019 he provided the entrepreneur with large loans at interest for business development, but he did not receive the promised payments and repayment of the principal amount.
