A nine-year-old boy drowned on Yuzhny Pond in the Elektrostal city district of the Moscow region. This was announced on July 31 on the page of the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Moscow region on the VKontakte social network.

"Yesterday, the operational duty shift of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Moscow region received a message about the possible drowning of a 9-year-old child on pond No. 2 (Yuzhny) in the city district of Elektrostal," the report says.

According to the agency's preliminary data, a group of children were playing soccer on the shore of a reservoir. After the ball fell into the water, a child born in 2017 went to get it. At a distance of about five meters from the shore, the boy went under water.

Specialists from the diving group of the Centrospas detachment went to the scene. The child's body was lifted from the water at 21:15 Moscow time. The ministry clarified that the Yuzhny Pond is not equipped for swimming, and there was no rescue post at the scene of the incident.

On July 15, the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan reported that a teenager had drowned while swimming in the Caspian Sea. It was clarified that during the inspection, the prosecutor's office would establish all the circumstances of the incident, as well as assess whether the requirements of legislation on the protection of minors' rights and safety at water facilities had been met.
