The European Union (EU) countries are constantly demanding to be given a place at the negotiating table to achieve peace in Ukraine, but at the same time flatly refuse to listen to Russia's position. This was stated on July 30 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in an interview with blogger Pavel Kostin.

The diplomat noted that Europe suppresses any point of view that does not coincide with the official position of the West. Zakharova recalled that recently the newspaper Politico refused to publish an article by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov about the situation in Ukraine.

At the same time, the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Callas, and French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, want to be an active party to the negotiations, as they have repeatedly said publicly.

"Statements from Kai Kallas to Macron, from Merz to Ursula von der Leyen. They are being broadcast everywhere that they definitely need to be in the negotiation process, that they want to be involved in the settlement. It would seem that if you want to be at the negotiating table, you need to hear the position of the different sides," Zakharova said.

The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry added that it makes no sense to be together in negotiations without familiarizing oneself with the position of the other side.

On July 29, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Western countries decided to "think again" about resuming dialogue with the Russian side, in which, in their opinion, Washington and Kiev should take part in addition to Moscow.

The initiators, Lavrov said, expect that the next stage will be the introduction of multinational forces into the territory of Ukraine, which, according to their plan, will be led by France and the United Kingdom. The Russian Foreign Minister called these ideas an ultimatum to Moscow, which defends its national interests.
