The priest spoke about the important traditions of the Honey Savior

The most important tradition of the Honey Savior is not the consecration of honey, but the worship of the Life—giving Cross of the Lord. Anthony Rusakevich, rector of the church in honor of the Apostle and Evangelist Luke in Tver, told Izvestia about this.

The main place in the celebration of the Honey Savior is a visit to the temple, prayer and participation in worship. At the same time, the consecration of honey, despite the prevalence of this tradition, is not the central event of the day.

"The main action of the holiday is not the consecration of honey, but the solemn offering and worship of the Life—giving Cross of the Lord," the priest emphasized.

On this day, it is recommended to pay special attention to charity and helping others. Believers can visit lonely relatives, help those in need, or make a donation. Another tradition remains the family lenten meal. Bread, vegetables, fruits, honey and nuts can be served on the table, preceding the meal with prayer.

If there is no opportunity to attend a divine service, you can pray at home. The priest recommends lighting a candle in front of the icons, reading the akathist to the Holy Cross, or addressing God in your own words.

"Church worship is certainly the most correct form of participation in the celebration, but the Lord hears prayer outside the temple walls," explained Anthony Rusakevich.

Also on this day, believers are encouraged to thank God for life, health, food and the opportunity to work, paying attention not only to the folk traditions of the holiday, but also to its spiritual content.
