The heat wave claimed the lives of 9.8 thousand people in Germany in 2026. This was announced on July 30 by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), part of the German Ministry of Health.

"As of July 19, the estimated number of deaths related to the effects of the heat in Germany is 9.8 thousand," the publication says.
