One of the most unusual cars on display at the Promotion Auto Festival, which opened in Moscow at VDNH, was the domestic off-road vehicle Astero Jump with a plastic body, released in 2001. A total of six copies of the model were produced, the Izvestia correspondent reports from the exhibition on July 30.

The Astero Jump is a "beach jeep" based on the UAZ—31512 chassis, designed by Gennady Khainov, one of the most famous and striking self-made designers from the USSR. The car was designed in St. Petersburg.

Thanks to the original design of the doors and the rigid roof, consisting of five easily removable elements, the SUV can be transformed into a convertible in just a few minutes. The body with plastic outer panels is built around a welded steel pipe frame. A 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine with a capacity of 150 hp is installed under the hood, which is combined with a manual transmission. The drive is full.

The premiere of the car took place at the Moscow Motor Show in 1999, a total of six such cars were assembled. The copy presented in Moscow was the last one produced by the Andrey Rodionov Red Book Auto Museum.

The day before, it was reported that a new modification of the Geely EX5 crossover called the EM-R with a sequential hybrid powerplant will enter the Russian market.
