Over the past day, 327 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 33 people were killed and 385 injured. On July 30, Izvestia was informed about this by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 58 accidents involving pedestrians, four people were killed, and 56 more were injured in various degrees of severity. There are 16 children among the injured, seven of them were injured at pedestrian crossings, and nine more were outside their area of operation. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 23 occurred at pedestrian crossings, 35 outside their area of operation.
20 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and 22 more road users, including one minor, required medical attention. Seven bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
In addition, over the past day, 50 accidents involving minors were registered on the roads of Russia, as a result of which 60 young road users were injured, including 24 child passengers and nine motor transport drivers. No dead children have been registered.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded drivers that driving conditions deteriorate significantly in rainy weather: the adhesion of tires to the road surface decreases, the braking distance increases and visibility decreases. In such conditions, it is necessary to reduce speed in advance, increase the distance and lateral interval, and avoid sudden maneuvers, lane changes, and braking.
"The aquaplaning effect is particularly dangerous, which occurs when driving on wet roads, when a layer of water forms between the tires and the road surface, which can cause the car to partially or completely lose traction and become uncontrollable. If aquaplaning occurs, do not brake sharply or turn the steering wheel. It is necessary to gradually reduce the speed, keeping the car within its lane, until the wheels fully regain traction," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child Traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
The day before, it was reported that the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation had considered a case on the confiscation of a car he had already sold from a driver convicted of driving under the influence. The reason was the representation of the Prosecutor General's Office, which challenged the decisions of lower authorities who refused to seize the car.
