The number of fraud cases when booking hotels and tourist services in Turkey has increased since the beginning of the summer season. This was announced on July 30 by a travel agent from Antalya, Dogan Gunesh.

"After a person starts looking for vacation options on the Internet, social media algorithms show them advertisements for travel offers. It is at this moment that scammers give users links to fake websites and pages that are almost indistinguishable from the real ones," Gunesh told RIA Novosti.

According to the travel agent, the attackers create fake hotel websites, hotel pages and accounts that mimic the work of travel agencies. To attract customers, they offer vacations at prices significantly below market prices and use urgency messages, such as the latest available rooms or temporary promotions.

Gunesh noted that after the transfer of funds, tourists often discover the absence of a reservation. In some cases, travelers will find out upon arrival that the specified accommodation does not exist.

On July 3, the authorities of Antalya, Turkey, called on tourists, including Russian citizens, to immediately report cases of fraud by taxi drivers. The reason for the reaction was a video that spread on social media, which recorded a conflict between a foreign tourist and a taxi driver due to an alleged overstatement of the cost of the trip.
