Currently, Russian units are successfully advancing north of Krasnoarmeysk in the Dobropolsky direction in the DPR. The fighting is fierce, and our command has concentrated its best-trained forces here. The story of how the soldiers of the special forces battalion of the Center group of forces are breaking through the enemy's defenses is in the Izvestia article.

Exactly on the heavy target

— We are hunting heavy hexacopters around the clock. We are covering the positions of our units of unmanned systems and the movement of assault groups," says a senior sniper with the call sign Rec.

Large aerial targets are destroyed by shooters from distances from 300 to 500 meters, both in motion and while hovering to strike, he explains.

Snipers destroy various types of drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: both reconnaissance and strike. In addition, they are hunting for such a type of UAV as the Baba Yaga.

They are used mainly at night, using the appropriate sights.

"Her weakest point is the battery," Retz says. "Of course, the enemy understands this and is trying to protect him.

That's why our snipers use bulletproof cartridges. In addition, they try to aim at the blades, after hitting which the heavy drone immediately blows down.

"We shoot down up to ten of these drones in a week," the soldier says.

He complains that the "bird" scout is more difficult to shoot down.

— They fly at high altitude. That's why it's difficult with them. But we still don't let them live in peace," the shooter smiles.

Disguise and patience

According to the sniper with the call sign Bumper, careful camouflage is a key factor in the effectiveness of sniper groups.

"We have special ponchos and anti—drone blankets that hide them not only from visual detection, but also in the thermal range," he says.

The work of snipers is organized according to a well-developed algorithm. Places to work are selected based on an analysis of the flight routes of enemy drones. This allows you to predict the appearance of goals.

"The systematic work of sniper groups reduces the effectiveness of using heavy hexacopters, reconnaissance and attack drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," says Bumper.

He remembers how he recently shot down Baba Yaga.

— We damaged her ammunition, thereby preventing the discharge. Then she turned around, and we eliminated her altogether," the shooter recalled.

He notes that the hardest and most important thing in a sniper's job is waiting.

— After the exploration has been carried out, we go to a given point and go into standby mode. It's always different here. But waiting is probably the main thing in our work," he says.

Special forces are always the first

Representatives of the special forces of the Center group of forces also share the specifics of their combat work. They say that fighting requires a high level of training, endurance and professionalism. We need maximum concentration.

— First, we go to the "settlement". We are conducting reconnaissance, identifying firing points, enemy locations and hidden fortifications," the commander of the special forces group with the call sign David begins the conversation.

After the special forces are secured in key positions and ensure the safety of the routes, the main forces of the assault units enter the village.

"You can't mess around here—it's deadly," he says.

Literally every step, every route is carefully calculated to exclude a meeting with the enemy, which minimizes losses.

David says that one of the main areas of their work is the organization of ambushes, sabotage and fire attacks on the enemy.

Commandos, as a rule, launch sudden attacks on enemy positions, identify and destroy commanders, drone crews, and communications hubs.

— The enemy is often unaware of our presence in close proximity to him. Of course, this allows us to act as efficiently as possible," the commander emphasized.

He draws attention to the fact that disguise for special forces is one of the most important conditions for survival and successful completion of the task.

All available means are used, from camouflage suits to skillful use of terrain and weather conditions.

"If he managed to remain invisible to enemy reconnaissance and drones, this will help him complete the most difficult tasks behind enemy lines and ensure the successful advance of our main forces," David believes.

Speaking about the nuances and subtleties of combat work, he notes that his unit was faced with the massive use of drones by the enemy.

"I've never seen anything like this before." There were five or six enemy drones per one of our fighters. And that's not counting the surveillance drones. Perhaps this was the main difficulty of our work," he stressed.

But, smiling, he said that the commandos had overcome these difficulties with the help of accurate fire from automatic weapons.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces use their manpower as cannon fodder

David says that the Ukrainian Armed Forces use their personnel as cannon fodder.

"The enemy uses their manpower to lure our units," he explains. — After that, he tries to attack both us and his people with "birds".

And there are many such episodes. For example, the Ukrainian Armed Forces unit "Skala", which confronted the special forces on one of the sections of the line of contact, used white masks. We did this in order to understand where our own is and where someone else's is. And I personally have watched more than once how enemy drones attacked their fighters in this ammunition. The reason for such attacks of their own is the danger of capturing the fighters of this unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

— This happens everywhere, — says the special forces soldier.

The fighting is changing. His unit has set up logistics with the help of our unmanned systems forces.

— Drones are used to deliver ammunition, provisions and water to the positions. Where it is not possible to use drones, we have tray groups," the serviceman explains.

In his opinion, any operation should be carefully prepared in advance.

— Psychological training of personnel is especially important. This is the key to overall success. No random people get into the special forces. Here are those who are comprehensively prepared and do their job bravely, sometimes without sparing their lives," he emphasizes.

The deputy commander of the group with the call sign Jim confirms the words of his commander, speaking about the importance of moral and psychological training. Understanding that you have been well prepared helps. This has been repeatedly confirmed in battles.
