Five Lipetsk mounds were recognized as objects of cultural heritage

In the Lipetsk region, five burial mounds were included in the list of identified cultural heritage sites.

They are located in two burial mounds "Matrenka-1" and "Matrenka-2", found in the Usman district. Archaeologists attribute them to the Bronze and Early Iron Ages.

According to GOROD48, with reference to the regional department for the protection of cultural heritage sites, it was possible to officially approve the boundaries of the burial grounds. The exact dates of their appearance will be established only after the excavations. However, the state has avoided interfering with the cultural stratum for decades. This is how it can be preserved until better times and the advent of new research technologies. Therefore, experts explain, excavations are most often carried out on collapsing sites.

In total, archaeologists managed to discover about 600 mounds and burial mounds in the region. Half of them have already been included in the federal register of cultural heritage sites and the list of identified archaeological heritage sites.

Thus, there is a special land use regime within the boundaries of these objects. Archaeological research is allowed there, but other types of work are under strict control. Thus, economic activity, land reclamation and construction can be carried out only if the monument is completely preserved.

In June, it was reported that in Lebedyan, Lipetsk region, during the cleaning of the Igumnovs' attic, a green metal ring with a barely noticeable ornament was found. The former family seat of the merchants is now home to the cultural foundation and the editorial office of the local regional newspaper. Earlier, an 18th—century coin and an openwork hood for a 19th-century smokestack were found in the attic.
