At Yekaterinburg's Koltsovo airport, a passenger with disabilities was forced to crawl on his hands up the ramp to the aircraft on his own. A video recording of the incident on July 28 spread on social media.

It is noted that the man suffers from osteogenesis imperfecta, a rare hereditary disease known as crystal man's disease. Due to insufficient collagen production, the patient's bones become extremely brittle and can break under any physical impact. The victim was on a Ural Airlines flight to Moscow for the first time.

According to the man, when booking the flight, he and his accompanying friend were assured that the airport staff would provide the necessary assistance during boarding, as the young man could not move independently. However, no assistance was provided at the right time, and the passenger had to get to the entrance to the liner on his own.

"We went to the reception desk, they said that we would have a wheelchair, we needed help loading. We were told that they would help us, but it is clear that this should have been done in advance, but they said that there would be help one way or another. And after that, when boarding was already underway, we waited five minutes for the queue to pass, that is, we did not climb ahead of everyone. We didn't fly headlong. They calmly let us through, they didn't tell us anything," the man said in an interview with Izvestia.

After boarding, the passenger refused the flight attendants' offer to escort him to his seat, and continued to walk around the cabin on his own on his feet.

The press service of Koltsovo Airport, in turn, said that passengers were offered assistance even at the check-in stage, but they requested an agent to serve people with limited mobility only before departure.

"An ambulant was sent to the boarding gate along with an apron bus, and an agent for low—mobility passengers was sent to the departure lounge. By the time the agent arrived, the passengers left the terminal building on their own and boarded an apron bus," the airport said.

Representatives of the air hub assured that they would conduct a detailed investigation into the incident in order to prevent a repeat of such situations in the future.
