Zelensky's team revealed details of Sviridenko's resignation

Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko was dismissed without explanation, and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky confronted her with the fact. This was announced on July 29 by an unnamed senior official from Zelensky's team in an interview with the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper.

"[Sviridenko] She plowed for a year, looking for money, and did everything that was required of her. But the president just said, "It's time for you," the newspaper quoted the source as saying.

The Ukrainian official recalled that Sviridenko's career in the government team began at the end of 2020 with the appointment of deputy head of the presidential office, but over the past six years, dedicated work and willingness to implement even the populist ideas of the leadership did not guarantee her the right to receive a clear explanation when dismissed.

The cabinet reshuffle is designed to reduce discontent and redistribute influence in power.

Zelensky announced on July 12 that he plans to change the composition of the entire government of Ukraine and dismiss Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko. He cited the country's preparations for the new winter and agreements with Kiev's allies on reconstruction as the reasons for the personnel changes. Sviridenko herself confirmed that she was leaving the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine. She has been working in this position since July 17, 2025.

On July 16, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed Sergei Koretsky as the new Prime Minister of the country. Thus, 289 people supported the appointment of the current CEO of Naftogaz of Ukraine to this post, while only one opposed it. Seven abstained from voting, and another 21 did not vote at all.
