The United States and Saudi Arabia have launched targeted strikes against groups linked to Iran in the eastern part of Iraq. This was announced on July 28 by the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM).

"On July 28, the US Central Command and the Saudi Armed Forces launched targeted strikes against Iran—linked [alleged] terrorists who were sent by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to attack American troops and Saudi Arabia's energy infrastructure," according to a post on the social network X (former. Twitter).

It is noted that during the operation, the fighters of the two countries hit several logistics and weapons facilities. The strikes were a response to more than 30 drone attacks carried out by the IRGC over the past three days.

The CENTCOM press service reported on July 28 that the IRGC fired missiles towards the deployment of the US military in the Middle East. It was noted that all the missiles fired were intercepted.
