Telegram's debts on fines in Russia have grown to almost 38 million rubles.

The amount owed by the Telegram messenger for fines for violating Russian law that were not paid on time has increased to almost 38 million rubles. This was reported by law enforcement agencies on Wednesday, July 29.

"According to the latest data, the amount owed by the Telegram messenger is almost 37.9 million rubles. We are talking about unpaid fines imposed by Roskomnadzor and Moscow magistrates on time," TASS quoted law enforcement officials as saying.

Currently, 27 enforcement proceedings have been opened against the messenger, according to court materials provided by the agency. The compulsory collection of 8 million rubles is carried out only for three of them. The remaining proceedings were terminated on the basis of the law "On Enforcement Proceedings". In the spring, Telegram's debt was about 35.8 million rubles.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on July 27 that the Russian side was continuing contacts with the Telegram leadership to unblock the messenger, but the other side was not yet very active in this matter.

On June 29, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow imposed an administrative fine on Telegram Messenger Inc. in the amount of 3.5 million rubles. The court found the organization guilty of failing to fulfill its duties as the owner of the social network.
