The amount of homework for students in grades 2-4, as well as for high school students, should be reduced so that they take from one to 2.5 hours to complete. This proposal was made on July 29 by Vladislav Grib, Deputy Secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.

"As for homework for the younger grades, there is room for discussion, and I would advocate reducing homework for them, and I would also consider limiting homework to a maximum of 2.5 hours for high school students," said Grib.

According to the representative of the Russian Academy of Education, students are now forced to study at home for three to four hours because of the large amount of assignments, and not because of poor academic performance. Grib stressed that due to the preparation for the Unified State Exam and the OGE, children have almost no time for personal development and walks, since the total workload, taking into account school lessons, exceeds eight hours.

"I think it's necessary to limit homework, including for high school students, so that it doesn't take more than 2.5 hours a day," he explained.

On July 23, Grib announced the need to introduce courses in aesthetic education, ethics, speech culture and communication rules in Russian schools, noting their importance for the formation of a child's personality. According to him, currently schools are not paying enough attention to the moral education of wards, which does not fit in with plans to introduce grades for behavior.
