Dynamo Primorsky coach Sandler died in an accident. What is known

The Investigative Committee organized a pre-investigation check after the death of the head coach of the Dynamo basketball club (Vladivostok) By Edward Sandler. What happened

According to preliminary investigation data, on July 28, in the area of Embankment Street in Vladivostok, a man driving a jet ski lost control and hit a stone embankment. After the impact, the jet ski tipped over onto a section of a paved dirt road.

The man died from his injuries at the scene. Earlier, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Primorsky Krai reported that the deceased was the head coach of the Dynamo basketball club, Eduard Sandler.

Review of the Investigative Committee

Investigators are conducting a pre-investigation check on the incident in the water area. It is organized on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of water transport, resulting in the death of a person by negligence").

Currently, the UK staff is establishing all the circumstances and causes of the incident.

What is known about Edward Sandler

The death of 44-year-old Eduard Sandler was previously announced by the press service of PBC Dynamo.

"Eduard Mikhailovich devoted his life to the development of sports, the education of players and the creation of a strong system. Thanks to his energy, character and dedication, Dynamo has come a long way and achieved significant victories," the club noted.

Sandler was the manager of the Dynamo Primorsky sports Society, president and head coach of the basketball club of the same name. During his career, he also led Spartak Primorye, Sakhalin and Vostok-65.

A native of Vladivostok, Sandler graduated from the Far Eastern State University with a degree in Law. He participated in the creation of professional basketball clubs Spartak Primorye and Sakhalin, and in the 2015/16 season he led the Sakhalin team to victory in the Super League.

Since 2023, the specialist has been the head of Dynamo Vladivostok. Already in the debut season under his leadership, the team became the Super League champion for the first time in its history. In May 2024, Sandler was appointed head coach of the Russian youth national basketball team (U20). In the 2026/27 season, Dynamo was supposed to make its debut in the VTB United League.

At the same time, there was a judicial episode in Sandler's biography. In 2016, the Frunzensky District Court of Vladivostok found him guilty of fraud with budgetary funds and sentenced him to two years in prison. After his release, he returned to work in professional basketball.

The club's condolences

Dynamo called Sandler's death an irreparable loss for the Primorye sports community and Russian basketball.

"We express our deep condolences to the families, friends, colleagues and all those who share this grievous loss. A happy memory," the club said in a statement.
