On July 27, Moscow hosted a commemorative event "Crane of Memory" dedicated to children who died and suffered from the Ukrainian aggression, during which 1,000 candles were used to lay out an image of a paper crane, the symbol of the Day of Remembrance of Children Victims of the War in Donbass.

"When you hear the words memorial Day, the first thing that comes to mind is the day of memory of Seraphim of Sarov, the day of memory of Xenia of St. Petersburg, the day of memory of some saint," said Alexei Shaposhnikov, chairman of the Moscow City Duma.

According to him, we are talking about the memory of the dead children, whose souls are personified by lighted candles and cranes flying into the sky. Shaposhnikov thanked all those gathered and stressed that this was the birth of a correct and necessary tradition.

Olga Makeeva, head of the representative office of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) in Moscow, noted that today not only residents of Donbass are under attack by Ukrainian forces. According to her, from April to July of this year, 42 Russian regions were shelled, and there are dead children.

"There are no other people's children, and therefore today we honor the memory of all the angels whose lives were so cruelly interrupted by the Ukrainian punishers. Our meeting today is not only about memory and sorrow. Our meeting today is about our resolute will to bring war criminals to justice. By targeting our children, the Ukrafascists are targeting our homeland and our future. So let's not let them do it," Makeeva said.

She thanked the participants of the action and urged them to keep the memory of this day in their hearts.

The Day of Remembrance of the children victims of the war in Donbass is celebrated annually on July 27. More than 100 people took part in the action in the capital, including volunteers from the Young Guard of the United Russia party, employees of the DPR representative office in Moscow and veterans of a special military operation.

On July 27, Izvestia published footage of 300 white balloons being launched in the sky of Donetsk as part of an action dedicated to Children's Memorial Day. It was noted that the event was organized within the framework of the national project "Youth and Children" and is called "Angels of Donbass".
