Peskov pointed to the development of Russia's technological sovereignty during the crisis

The current crisis has brought Russian society together and created conditions for strengthening the country's technological and information sovereignty. This was announced on July 27 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov at the Territory of Meanings forum in Solnechnogorsk.

"We are now in an ideal crisis that strengthens our sovereignty, which has filled our entire lives with a single consolidation in leaps and bounds," he said.

According to the Kremlin's representative, Russians have united around the country regardless of their political views. Peskov called the ability of society to consolidate in difficult conditions its unique feature.

"This [happened] partly due to these circumstances, which created the very storm that made us stronger," added the press secretary of the Russian president.

Peskov also said that technological and information sovereignty cannot fully develop in a calm environment.

"He can't develop in a comfort zone, he can't develop at rest. It develops only in a crisis," he stressed.

The Kremlin representative noted that the confrontation between Russia and the West had become an important experience that showed the limitations of freedom of information dissemination and the need to develop their own technologies.

The main reason is the high risk to data security and confidentiality.

Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Administration, said on July 18 that technological sovereignty allows the country to protect citizens' data, manage critical infrastructure and choose partners without external dictates, without implying self-isolation.

According to him, genuine open cooperation can only exist between independent parties with equal rights. The Russian side is ready to share practical solutions in the field of AI, including the development of its own large language models, cloud-based digital platforms and application solutions.
