China noted the SCO's readiness to enter a new stage of development
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is ready to enter a new stage of high-quality development, which will be characterized by enhanced coordination and expansion of strategic cooperation among its member States. This was announced on Monday, July 27, according to the material of the National Analytical Center of the Xinhua news Agency.
The Center has published a report entitled "Upholding fairness and justice, improving global governance: achievements, opportunities and Prospects for cooperation within the SCO." It examines the main achievements of the SCO over the past 25 years since its founding, provides an in-depth analysis of the broad opportunities for deepening the organization's activities, and identifies priority areas for its future cooperation.
It is noted that the SCO is the most extensive structure in terms of geographical coverage and one of the most promising in terms of development potential. Despite the differences between the member States in political systems, traditions, and religious beliefs, the organization consistently adheres to the "Shanghai Spirit." Its main principles are mutual trust, benefit, equality and respect for the diversity of civilizations.
In the context of international conflicts, Xinhua notes, the organization defends the principles of justice, advocating unity and cooperation instead of confrontation. The SCO actively promotes dialogue and mediation to resolve disputes, as well as supports developing countries.
Currently, a multidimensional network of connections is being formed at an accelerated pace within the organization, connecting land and sea, as well as domestic and international markets. The digital economy is also opening up new horizons for cooperation, including the development of smart cities and autonomous driving technologies. Using significant energy resources and vast markets, the SCO member states achieve joint development and mutually beneficial results.
According to current data, the organization's priority areas of work are financial innovation, green transition, and security. The Member States intend to collectively overcome common risks and challenges based on the principles of sustainable and comprehensive security.
Special attention is being paid to the humanitarian aspect, Xinhua added. Joint film and television projects, archaeological research and the exchange of educational resources contribute to the rapprochement of countries. Measures to simplify the visa regime between the Member States have become an important step in strengthening interpersonal ties.
"Today, all SCO member states are at a critical stage of development and national revival. They can implement more sustainable, people-oriented cooperation projects and continue to draw strength from the diversity of civilizations as an enduring source of SCO development and progress. By deepening cooperation in the fields of education, talent development and tourism, the organization can help write a new chapter in which countries with different histories, cultures, social systems and stages of development will live together in peace, harmony and mutual respect," the article concluded.
On July 25, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that China and Russia should step up cooperation within multilateral structures and jointly develop the potential of the SCO. The Chinese diplomat expressed hope for continued mutual support in the United Nations and other international organizations.
On June 15, it was reported that about 20 countries had submitted applications for joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in various statuses. The Secretary General of the organization, Nurlan Yermekbayev, noted the increased interest in the activities of the structure from the international community. According to him, the current dynamics confirms the relevance of the organization's development vectors.
