Bakanov announced Kazakhstan's readiness to launch a new Soyuz-5 rocket

Cooperation with Kazakhstan in the framework of work at the Baikonur cosmodrome continues, the partners have already prepared the launch pad for the new Russian Soyuz-5 rocket. This was announced on July 25 by Dmitry Bakanov, head of the Roscosmos state corporation, to Igor Baldin, a correspondent of Izvestia.

"We have Baikonur, respectively, where several classes of rockets are launching — Proton heavy, Soyuz-5 new, Baiterek project — thanks to them (Kazakh partners — Ed.) for their joint work," he said, answering a question about cooperation with Kazakhstan in the field of space.

The head of the state corporation clarified that the Samara Progress Rocket and Space Center is engaged in the manufacture of a promising rocket, while the Kazakh side has taken over the preparation of the ground infrastructure. According to Bakanov, the carrier's characteristics make it possible to launch medium- and heavy-class satellites into low-Earth and geostationary orbits.
